1st/Lt. Gunther
Walter Gunther was born 93 years ago on 30th January, he graduated Boys Catholic ( Malden Catholic) in 1937, attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. and enlisted in the US Army in November 1941. He volunteered for the Paratroopers, and trained at Camp Croft, South Carolina, Camp Toccoa, Georgia, and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to name a few.
Lt. Gunther met and married his wife Mary Bobb Farley, a U.S. Army nurse and in late August 1943 deployed to England for preparations for D-Day… Sadly Lt. Gunther was KIA on D-Day and is buried in Normandy, France.
